For the past 18years, I have been working with colleagues in Ghana in various health service and administrative institutions and settings. I have attended many lectures and have given several to many different audiences. Through four large international conferences, my colleagues and I have brought hundreds of foreign and local health scientists together to share knowledge and practices in my area of greatest scientific interest, sickle cell disease and other disorders of haemoglobin. I have also followed as closely as possible, events in Ghana that affect the health of our people.
